Dr Stavros G. Efthimiou is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Tourism Studies at the University of Piraeus. He holds a PhD from the Department of International and European Studies, School of Economics, Business and International Studies, University of Piraeus. He has many years of experience and expertise as a business consultant in the areas of strategy, investment and competitiveness. He has been actively involved in the management and support of research and European programmes. His research has been published in reputable international peer-reviewed journals, and he has participated in numerous international scientific conferences. His academic and research interests focus on international economics, with particular emphasis on foreign direct investment, economic growth and adjustment to the international environment, as well as tourism competitiveness and development.
